Picture of Partial Lunar eclipse Friday 10th January 2020

Thankfully the skies cleared in time for the penumbral partial eclipse heavily featured on the BBC news bulletins.

This image was captured by John using our in house telescope and Canon DSLR using the video mode.

A penumbral eclipse is where, at no time on the Moon’s surface, is the Sun completely covered by the Earth. This results in just a subtle darkening of the Moon closest to where the Earths shadow in space is. Although not as striking as a full Lunar eclipse, it is still a pretty sight to see.

Come and see the Moon for yourself at Deancroft Cottage!
